Remember your Senior Prom from high school? Wish you could re-live that night, but have it be fun and not a disappointment?

Well, here’s your chance!

GAFBO brings to you
Lansing Luau: A Prom for Adults.

Think Magnum P.I., Hula skirts, pineapples, coconuts… only the best.

Let’s get you all the information you need via who, what, when, where, why, and how sections.

GAFBO.  Well,  we are organizing it.  But it is really a party for you, and all your friends.

WHAT:

The Lansing Luau.  A Hawaiian themed party/Prom/Homecoming Dance.  We really want you to come in “formal attire.”  But not just any formal attire.  Rather, we prefer ridiculous formal attire.  Think Prom meets Halloween.  You don’t have to of course, but it really is more fun that way.  Our previous two events (“Love through the Ages” and “Beards in Space”) featured lots of great outfits.  Look around at these photos for some great examples.

WHEN:IMG_7936 (1)

On September 13th, in case you have already forgotten.  Party starts at 7pm, and will conclude somewhere between 11pm and midnight.  Feel free to show up fashionably late, but you will miss out on that much more fun.     8757189489_d3f1c6d2db_k

WHERE:

The Allen Market Place, located at 1629 E. Kalamazoo St.  It is behind the Allen  Neighborhood Center.  So…while the address is Kalamazoo Street, you will want to park and enter around back.  We’ll have signs for your convenience.

WHY: IMG_8124 (1)

Seriously?  You need to ask this question?  Why do we do anything as awesome as the stuff we do?  To make the greater Lansing area just that…GREATER!  More specifically, this time around, we are donating all proceeds to the Allen Market Place, and amazing new addition to the wonderful Allen Neighborhood Center.  The first non-profit food hub in Mid-Michigan is an incubator for small businesses, event space, and farmer’s market year round.  There really is no reason not to help promote all the hard work people have put in to make space for your entertainment and well-being.

HOW:IMG_8015

Through the hard work of numerous GAFBO members.  The overwhelming support and assistance of everyone from the Allen Neighborhood Center.  And from the Lansing community at large.

This Hawaiian themed prom for adults will have music, food, drinks, and raffle prizes.  All of this is being donated from like-minded folk who want to see Lansing thrive, and are willing offer any assistance to help see this fundraising party thrive.  Business that have donated gifts and raffle prizes include, but are not limited to: Fish Ladder Tattoo Company, Midtown Brewing Company, Classic Barber Shop, 3rd Base Sports Bar and Grill, the Lansing Lugnuts, Lansing United, and many more.

Dancing and fun will be had by all! There will be hors d’oeuvres as well as adult and non-adult beverages. Beer and spirits provided by our friends at Sleepwalker Spirits and Ales.

Best of all? Everyone gets leied. For real.

And before the end of the night, Prom King and Queen will be crowned! Could it be you? The only way for that to happen is to be there!

Tickets will be limited to approximately 125 people, so don’t sit on your hands this year, or you will be left out.
